The Grammy nominees

The 49th annual Grammy Awards will be announced February 11th, in LA, and up for grabs are two particular awards that film music fans are taking note of: "score soundtrack album for motion picture/TV" and "Song written for Motion Picture/TV."

The nominees are:

"Score Soundtrack"
*Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe - Harry Gregson-Williams
*The Da Vinci Code - Hans Zimmer
*Memoirs of a Geisha - John Williams
*POTC: Dead Man's Chest - Hans Zimmer
*Munich - John Williams

I'd take Da Vinci Code as my favorite out of those five. But all have their own unique aspects, and certainly the rabid fan approval of Zimmer's "Pirates" follow-up factors into the committee's decision to some degree... But I hope not too much. Also interesting to note that there were no TV soundtracks picked.

"Song Written for Motion Picture/TV"
*"Can't Take It In" (from Chronicles of Narnia) - Imogen Heap
*"I Need to Wake Up" (from An Inconvenient Truth) - Melissa Etheridge
*"Our Town" (from Cars) - Randy Newman
*"Travelin' Thru" (from Transamerica) - Dolly Parton
*"There's Nothing Like a Show on Broadway" (from The Producers) - Mel Brooks

Out of those less-then-decent choices, I'd select Imogen Heap's breathy number. It sure is bizarre though!
Your top picks? And who do you think will actually get the award?

I would definitely have picked "Can't Take it In" as well...LOVE that song, despite (or is it because of?) its bizarre nature. :)
Regarding what score I would have voted for, hmm...well having not heard Davinci Code, I'd have to either go with Narnia (just discovered this, and I REally like it) or probably Memoirs...yet another great score by Williams. Hmm, decisions decisions...not as bad as the year previous, however! Boy, was I torn.
