Douglas Pipes..........who?

Not many people have ever heard of Douglas Pipes. I certainly hadn't before just recently. So why then did this no-name film music composer land a job with Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, and Sony Pictures writing the original score for the film Monster House?

This is certainly an encouraging bit of news to any aspiring soundtrack composer! Mr. Pipes apparently got the job (and a large orchestra to use) after only three previous "major" projects (one of which was TV; none were large markets). It just goes to show what hard work and dedication can do for somebody!

And he didn't even have Zimmer's Media Ventures aid to back him up! Mr. Pipes hails from gsa music (also the home of Alan Silvestri and Howard Shore, among others).

The Monster House soundtrack will be released by Varèse Sarabande on July 18, three days before the movie opens.

Next Up: An in-depth, multi-media look at film composer: Hans Zimmer

Until then-
Have an excellent evening!
